A child under the age of 18 is considered a juvenile in our criminal justice system. Juvenile cases require a different approach than that employed in adult criminal cases.  Juvenile court is its own special area of the law that involves unique considerations.  The goal of juvenile law is to rehabilitate the behavior, not to punish the child.​
