Drug Cases and the 4th Amendment

Laughlin Law in Sioux Falls, SD has represented clients in hundreds of drug related cases.  An understanding of the protections guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment is integral to successful representation in these types of cases.  The rights pertaining to search and seizure are constantly evolving and must be monitored regularly to mount a successful defense.

Knowing and Asserting Rights

A single case opinion from the United States Supreme Court or South Dakota Supreme Court can literally change the law in an instant.  Knowing your rights and properly asserting them is critical whether it is a drug dog stop on the interstate or search warrant executed in a private residence.

Small Or Large Drug Cases

Laughlin Law is familiar with the processing and chemical analysis of marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin, K2, MDMA, opiates and cocaine.  We also have experience dealing with cases alleging large-scale distribution of drugs.

Drug Diversion Programs

Minnehaha County has two drug diversion programs, the Meth Sentencing Alternative Program (MSA) and Drug Court.  These programs have separate acceptance requirements and seek to provide the treatment that will result in meaningful sobriety.  Laughlin Law has assisted clients in gaining entry into both programs, and is proud to have had clients successfully complete each of them.
